Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan Recovering After Knife Attack at Mumbai Residence

In the early hours of Thursday, January 16, 2025, renowned Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The assailant, who entered the apartment around 2:30 a.m., stabbed Khan six times during a confrontation. One of the injuries was dangerously close to his spine. Khan, 54, was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, stated that while two of the injuries were deep, the actor is currently out of danger. A small piece of a foreign body was identified near his spine, and the full extent of the damage is being assessed.

The incident unfolded when Khan awoke to suspicious sounds in his apartment. Upon investigating, he confronted the intruder, leading to a scuffle during which he sustained the stab wounds. His wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children were present in the home but were unharmed. A female employee was also attacked and is receiving treatment.

Mumbai Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the attacker, who fled the scene after the assault. The incident has raised concerns about security in Mumbai, especially in celebrity-populated suburbs like Bandra. Political leaders and fellow actors have called for enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of residents.

Khan’s team released a statement requesting privacy and patience from the media and fans, emphasizing that it is a police matter and updates will be provided as the situation develops.
