Interview with Ritu Varma on her upcoming film “Mazaka”

What attracted you to this film?
When Prasanna (the writer) narrated the story, I found it very entertaining. At the same time, the story had a high emotional quotient. Both female characters have a lot of importance in the story. I loved the narration and was laughing throughout.
What was your most memorable moment during the shoot?
There’s a single-take scene in the second half between me and Rao Ramesh garu. Everyone was happy with how it turned out. Rao Ramesh garu called me after dubbing and said, “You did a wonderful job! In my 16 years in the industry, I’ve never seen a scene like that.” That was very memorable for me.
What was the shooting experience like?
We enjoyed the shoot. Everyone on set was energetic, and that same energy is visible in the promotions. The positive response to the “bottle reel” makes me very happy.
Trinadh Rao’s films are usually entertaining. What can we expect from this one?
It’s going to be fully entertaining with lots of comedy and high emotion. The songs are grand. The teaser was well-received, and there are very positive vibes.
Can you tell us about your character?
I play a young college girl. The interesting part is how an emotional conflict from her childhood affects her and her relationship with Sandeep’s character. My character is presented in a new way, unlike anything I’ve done before. I’m confident the audience will like it.
How was it working with Sandeep Kishan?
Sandeep is a very positive and energetic person. He’s a lovely and supportive co-star. Working with him was a wonderful experience.
And how about working with Anshu?
She’s a very positive and hardworking person. She even took Telugu classes. I’m excited about her comeback.
How were the song shoots?
I enjoyed them a lot! The songs are amazing and have received a good response. The “Ravulamma” song is coming out soon, and it’s also very good.
What about director Trinadh Rao?
He’s a jovial and energetic person who keeps everyone energized. The whole team is positive, and every day feels like a festival. Trinadh Rao and Prasanna are a very good combination. Prasanna garu came to the set every day. He’s very particular about comic timing.
How was your experience working with Hasya Movies?
Rajesh garu and Anil garu are passionate producers. They worked hard to give a quality film to the audience, without compromising. I want to do another film in their production.
What’s your dream role?
I want to do an action role. I also love doing comedy. And I would love to do a full-length period film.
How do you feel about your journey so far?
I’m very happy. I’ve done good films and roles as an actress. It makes me happy that there are some memorable roles among them.
When is Pelli Choopulu 2 happening?
I’m also waiting for that! It will be great if they plan it.
What about your new projects?
I’ve signed a multi-starrer in Telugu and also did a web series that will be released on Hotstar.
