Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara Aims for August 22 Release; VFX Enhancements Underway

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s much-anticipated film Vishwambhara was initially slated for a Sankranthi 2025 release. However, to allow for the solo release of Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and directed by S. Shankar, the film was postponed. With Game Changer facing unexpected hurdles, fans have been eager to learn the new release date for Vishwambhara. Now, fresh reports suggest that the makers are planning to unveil the film on August 22, coinciding with Chiranjeevi’s birthday.

Why the Delay?

The film was initially expected to hit theaters in May, but extensive VFX work has pushed the timeline further. Given that Vishwambhara is a high-concept fantasy drama with heavy reliance on CGI, the filmmakers have roped in the acclaimed team behind Avatar to refine the visual effects. This decision comes after early glimpses of the film’s graphics received mixed responses online. Although an official release date is yet to be confirmed, the August 22 window seems likely.

A Fantasy Epic Rooted in Mythology

Vishwambhara, announced as Mega 156 in August 2023, was officially launched with a pooja ceremony on October 23. While initial speculation suggested that the film could be a sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, director Mallidi Vassishta clarified that it is a completely original story. The movie blends mythology with fantasy, promising an engaging and visually spectacular experience.

Filming began at Annapurna Studios with grand sets designed by A.S. Prakash. Given that nearly 70% of the film relies on VFX, the team is ensuring top-notch execution. Initial portions were shot in Maredumilli’s picturesque forests, while Chiranjeevi joined the sets in February 2024.

A Stellar Cast & Power-Packed Action

The film features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, reuniting with Chiranjeevi after many years. Other key cast members include Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ashika Ranganath, Isha Chawla, Surbhi Puranik, and Kunal Kapoor.

Action sequences have been designed by renowned choreographers Shobhi Master and Vijay Binni, with major portions filmed in Hyderabad and Nalgonda. A large-scale fight sequence at Ramoji Film City was shot using real sand for authentic mud effects. Another highlight is a visually striking sequence featuring a massive 54-foot Hanuman statue in Lingampally. In a testament to his dedication, Chiranjeevi recently completed an intense 26-day action schedule, marking the longest fight sequence of his career.

A Technically Sound Spectacle

Behind the lens, Vishwambhara is supported by some of the industry’s best talents. Cinematography is led by Chota K. Naidu, while editing is handled by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao and Santhosh Kamireddy. Adding to the excitement, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani is crafting the film’s music, ensuring a powerful and immersive soundtrack.

With anticipation reaching new heights, Vishwambhara is shaping up to be a grand cinematic experience. As fans await an official confirmation on the release date, they are hopeful that this visual extravaganza will arrive as a perfect birthday treat for Chiranjeevi’s admirers.
