Complaint Filed Against Vijay Over Iftar Event Controversy

Actor-turned-politician Vijay, who actively stepped into politics in 2024, has been engaging in various public activities to strengthen his party’s presence in Tamil Nadu. As part of these efforts, he recently organized an Iftar gathering during Ramadan, where he participated in prayers while wearing a skull cap and broke the fast alongside fellow attendees. However, the event has now sparked controversy, leading to a police complaint filed by the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath.
Reason Behind the Complaint
Explaining their concerns, Syed Ghouse, a representative of Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, stated,
“The sanctity of the event was compromised as several attendees were reportedly intoxicated and misbehaved. Such individuals should not have been present at a religious gathering, as it is disrespectful to devout Muslims observing Ramadan. What’s more disappointing is that Vijay has not addressed or apologized for the issues that arose during the event.”
Additionally, the organization criticized Vijay’s event management, citing similar issues during his political launch.
“People are not being treated with dignity; they are herded like cattle, and their emotions are disregarded. Furthermore, the security team comprises non-local bouncers who fail to respect those attending these events. To prevent such incidents from happening again, we have formally lodged a police complaint. Our intention is not to seek publicity but to ensure that future gatherings maintain decorum and respect,” Ghouse added.
Vijay’s Film & Political Journey
On the professional front, Vijay is currently working on Jananayagan, directed by H. Vinoth. This film is expected to be his final project before he fully transitions into politics. Backed by KVN Productions, Jananayagan stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju in key roles.
With Vijay’s growing political involvement, every move of his is under scrutiny, and the Iftar event controversy has now become a talking point in political circles.
