Film Director Sanoj Kumar Mishra Arrested in Rape Case After Anticipatory Bail Rejected

Delhi Police has arrested film director Sanoj Kumar Mishra in connection with a rape case following the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Delhi High Court. Mishra, who recently made headlines for offering a film role to viral Mahakumbh Mela girl Monalisa, was taken into custody after a woman accused him of sexual assault, blackmail, and coercion.

Allegations Against Sanoj Kumar Mishra

The complainant, a 28-year-old woman, alleged that she came into contact with Mishra through TikTok and Instagram in 2020 while living in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. She claimed that the director emotionally manipulated her by threatening suicide, eventually coercing her into meeting him.

According to the victim, on June 18, 2021, Mishra took her to a resort, where he allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted her. She further alleged that he captured compromising photos and videos, using them as leverage to blackmail her into a forced relationship. Promising marriage and film opportunities, Mishra allegedly pressured her into a live-in relationship in Mumbai, during which she endured repeated physical assaults and was forced to undergo three abortions.

In February 2025, the woman claimed that Mishra abandoned her and threatened to leak her private photos and videos if she reported him to the authorities.

Police Investigation & Arrest

Following her complaint, an FIR was registered under multiple IPC sections, including rape, assault, criminal intimidation, and causing miscarriage. The victim also provided a statement under Section 164 CrPC, supporting her claims. Investigators obtained medical records from Muzaffarnagar confirming the forced abortions.

The 45-year-old filmmaker, who is married and resides with his family in Mumbai, has now been arrested and taken into police custody as the investigation continues.
