Deepika Padukone Joins Shah Rukh Khan’s Action Thriller ‘King’? Here’s the Buzz

Shah Rukh Khan’s next big venture, King, directed by Pathaan filmmaker Siddharth Anand, has been generating major buzz since the superstar confirmed the collaboration earlier this year. Now, the latest chatter suggests that Deepika Padukone is all set to join the cast in a significant role.

While the film reportedly stars SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan in the lead role, facing off against Abhishek Bachchan as the antagonist, new reports hint that Deepika will portray Suhana’s mother in an extended cameo. The film is being described as a revenge-driven action thriller, with Shah Rukh playing a deadly assassin who helps his daughter take down her enemies.

According to a report by Peepingmoon, King is said to carry thematic similarities to the 2000 action drama Bichhoo starring Bobby Deol and Karisma Kapoor. Deepika’s character, though brief, is expected to add emotional depth to Suhana’s storyline, shaping the motivation behind the vengeance arc.

Interestingly, the report also claims that Saif Ali Khan and Tabu were earlier considered for the roles of Suhana’s parents. It appears the project has evolved significantly since its inception. Originally planned with Sujoy Ghosh at the helm and Shah Rukh in a smaller role, King has now transformed into a full-fledged Shah Rukh Khan vehicle under Siddharth Anand’s direction.

If confirmed, King would mark Deepika Padukone’s sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan after a successful lineup that includes Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan — making her a consistent presence in SRK’s most iconic films.

With a compelling cast and a gripping premise, King is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about action thrillers on the horizon.
