Jr NTR to Portray Dadasaheb Phalke in Upcoming Biopic ‘Made in India’ – Full Update

In September 2023, acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli unveiled the announcement video of Made in India—a biopic centered on the origin and evolution of Indian cinema, inspired by the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, regarded as the ‘Father of Indian Cinema’. The project is being produced by Varun Gupta (Max Studios) and SS Karthikeya (Showing Business), and is slated for a Pan-India release.
Since the announcement, Rajamouli, Karthikeya, and Gupta have been meticulously working on the script. Now, they have finalized a compelling draft of the story, and according to sources, the team recently narrated the script to Jr NTR.
The insider revealed that Jr NTR was deeply impressed by the narration and instantly gave his verbal nod. “He was fascinated by the lesser-known stories of Dadasaheb Phalke and the incredible journey of Indian cinema’s early days. The depth and richness of the narrative took him by surprise, and he’s thrilled at the opportunity to portray such a legendary figure,” said the source.
While an official agreement is yet to be signed, the actor has reportedly shown keen interest in being part of the project. “Jr NTR has immense admiration for SS Rajamouli and shares a close bond with SS Karthikeya and Varun Gupta. He didn’t just listen to the story but also engaged in a detailed discussion about the screenplay and narrative approach,” the source added.
Currently, Jr NTR is occupied with director Prashanth Neel’s action-packed venture and will soon start work on another film with Nelson Dilipkumar. Made in India, the biopic, is expected to be a refreshing shift for the actor, offering him a chance to explore a new genre beyond high-octane action.
In the meantime, fans can also look forward to Jr NTR’s upcoming release, War 2, scheduled to hit theatres during the Independence Day weekend.
