Manchu Manoj Opens Up About His Powerful Role in Bhairava, Emotional Comeback, and Future Plans

Actor Manchu Manoj is all set to make a strong comeback to the silver screen with the upcoming action thriller Bhairava, co-starring Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas and Nara Rohith. Directed by Vijay Kanakamedala and produced by K.K. Radhamohan under the Sri Sathya Sai Arts banner, the film is racing ahead with high expectations, thanks to its teaser, songs, and promotional material receiving an enthusiastic response. Presented by Dr. Jayantilal Gada (PEN Studios), Bhairava is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on May 30, 2025.

As his birthday approaches on May 20, Manoj addressed the media and shared his journey, the making of Bhairava, and what this film means to him.

The Beginning of Bhairava

Manoj recalled how the film came into being:
“I met Sai Sreenivas at a film event where he mentioned that director Vijay Kanakamedala was keen to meet me. We got in touch, and Vijay narrated the script. I was instantly drawn to the story—it’s a compelling action drama, and I agreed to be part of it without a second thought.”

On His Character in the Film

“I’ve never played a character like Gajapathi Varma before. It’s intense, ferocious, and incredibly layered. Bhairava will surely stand out as a special film in my career.”

Getting Emotional at the Trailer Launch

“It’s been nine years since I distanced myself from cinema due to personal reasons. Returning to films after such a long break and facing the audience again was an emotional moment for me.”

On-Screen Space with Sai and Rohith

“Every character in Bhairava has its own importance. Screen space is fairly divided, and all of us have performed with passion. The director wrote each role with strength and depth.”

He further added, “Sai is like a younger brother, and Rohith is a close friend. We bonded even more during the shoot. Despite facing personal challenges in my life, I gave my all during the filming. Rohith inspired me deeply—he continued shooting a song even while dealing with a personal loss. That’s real dedication. Our director Vijay was also a pillar of support throughout the journey—he became more like family.”

Lessons from His Father (Mohan Babu)

“One of the most valuable lessons I learned from my father is to always look after the people you trust and to help others. He rose to success through sheer hard work, and his journey is a source of inspiration. His integrity is something I’ve always admired. He is my hero.”

On Cooking and Set Life

“Shankar (guest on set) mentioned I cook good biryani—and it’s true! Since my hostel days, cooking became second nature. Even during shoots, whenever I get time, I like to cook. Rohith is also a great cook.”

Solo Projects?

“I had planned to do a solo film with Aham Brahmasmi, but it didn’t work out for various reasons. Now I believe God had different plans. Bhairava and Mirayi were meant to happen—divinely timed.”

Working with Director Vijay Kanakamedala

“Vijay has a strong pulse on Telugu audiences. He’s presented this film with all the commercial elements but with a unique vision. Anyone who’s watched his Gurthunda Seethakalam will be surprised by this transformation. He even personally designed my look and costumes. After watching the final cut, we feel very confident—it’s a film that will connect with everyone.”

On Sri Charan’s Music

Sri Charan Pakala delivered a beautiful album. A special song is releasing tomorrow, and it’s going to be a treat. His background score is brilliant—people will definitely take notice after the release.”

Birthday Resolution

“This birthday feels like a rebirth for me. I’m stepping into a new phase of life and career. I want to dedicate more time to films and keep moving forward at full speed.”

On the Massive Temple Set

“A grand temple set was specially constructed for the film. It plays a crucial role in the story and adds visual richness to the film’s setting.”

About Producer K.K. Radhamohan

“In today’s times, it’s rare to find producers as passionate as Radhamohan garu. He believed in the story and didn’t compromise on quality. Hats off to him—such producers deserve encouragement and respect.”

What Can Audiences Expect Next?

“I’ve always leaned toward experimental cinema. I like to ensure every film I do is different from the last. I’m also thinking of doing a children’s film in the future—something fun and meaningful. If the opportunity arises, I’ll definitely make it happen.”
