“Kingdom Made My Fans’ Eyes Shine With Joy” – Vijay Deverakonda on the Film’s Grand Success

Vijay Deverakonda’s latest outing Kingdom has struck gold at the box office, receiving applause from both critics and audiences across demographics. Directed by Gautam Tinnanuri, this action-packed emotional drama features Satyadev, Bhagyashree Borse, and Venkatesh in pivotal roles. Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, the film was presented by Srikara Studios. With a stirring soundtrack by Anirudh Ravichander, Kingdom released on July 31st and has been winning hearts with its gripping narrative and stunning visuals.
Set against the intense backdrop of brotherhood and gang warfare, Kingdom takes audiences on a raw and emotional journey. The film explores the emotional bond between two brothers, interwoven with themes of power, loyalty, and vengeance. The screenplay cleverly blends personal stakes with larger political and tribal dynamics, delivering a cinematic experience that feels both intimate and epic.
Reacting to the response, Vijay Deverakonda shared his happiness during a recent media interaction. “It’s overwhelming to see audiences respond so positively, not just in Telugu-speaking states but also in other parts of India and even overseas,” he said, specifically mentioning the unexpected love from Malayalam audiences despite the film not having a dubbed version in that language.
Speaking about director Gautam Tinnanuri, Vijay said, “I love how Gautam handles emotions and family bonds. When he narrated the idea of blending a gangster drama with sibling ties, it immediately excited me. Every scene, even action, is rooted in strong emotional context.”
On the film’s scale and storytelling depth, Vijay revealed that Kingdom was always planned as a two-part saga. “There are multiple layers in this story—from brotherhood to patriotism to tribal leadership. It couldn’t all be told in one part. The first part focused on Soori’s journey for his brother Shiva. The second part will be even more intense and emotionally loaded.”
A key moment in the film that drew a lot of attention was the “weapons-based voting” scene. “When Gautam first mentioned the idea of people casting votes with swords and guns, it felt unique and fresh. I think that novelty played a big part in the audience connection,” he added.
On preparing for the role, Vijay shared, “Once I heard the story, I began researching how people lived and spoke during that era. I watched various web series and transformed physically to suit the role—putting on muscle to look more imposing for Soori’s journey into the empire.”
When asked about the best compliment he received, Vijay simply said, “The love from the audience is the biggest reward. Seeing joy in my fans’ eyes after a long time meant everything. After the first show, so many people called saying ‘We did it!’ and that made me incredibly happy.”
He also revealed that filmmaker Sukumar personally called him to praise the film. “I admire Sukumar sir deeply. Hearing appreciation from him was a special moment.”
On future collaborations, Vijay expressed interest in finally teaming up with Sukumar after years of trying to make it happen. But for now, his focus remains on current projects—one with director Rahul Sankrityan set in Rayalaseema, and another with Ravi Kiran Kola that’s rooted in Andhra culture.
Kingdom has not only proved to be a commercial hit but also reaffirmed Vijay Deverakonda’s position as a compelling performer capable of emotional depth and physical intensity. With a successful film behind him, he’s looking forward to even more impactful stories ahead.
