Nagarjuna Announces Shiva 4K Dolby Atmos Re-Release on ANR’s 101st Birth Anniversary

Marking a heartfelt tribute to his father Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), King Nagarjuna has officially announced that the legendary classic Shiva will be re-released in theatres on November 14, 2025, coinciding with ANR’s 101st birth anniversary.

A Tribute to ANR’s Vision

Speaking about the re-release, Nagarjuna shared:

“My father always believed that cinema had the power to outlive generations. Shiva was one such film that created history, and bringing it back in 4K Dolby Atmos is our tribute to his dream of keeping great stories alive for the next generation.”

A Film That Changed Indian Cinema

Originally released in 1989 under the Annapurna Studios banner and produced by Akkineni Venkat and Surendra Yarlagadda, Shiva is widely regarded as one of the most influential Indian films ever made. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the movie not only redefined Telugu cinema but also left such a lasting impact that film historians often describe eras as “Before Shiva” and “After Shiva.”

Technical Brilliance in the Re-Release

For the upcoming re-release, Shiva has undergone a complete restoration, offering audiences:

  • 4K Ultra-HD visuals
  • Dolby Atmos sound – remastered from the original mono mix using advanced AI technology
  • A reimagined immersive experience, while retaining the raw intensity that made the film a cult classic

Director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) expressed his excitement:

“The brilliance of Shiva was always in its sound design and bold execution. With this new technology, audiences will witness the film in a way they never have before. I cannot wait for fans to experience the enhanced sound and visuals on the big screen.”

The Big Day

The re-release of Shiva in 4K Dolby Atmos is set to take place on November 14th, making it the first-ever re-released Telugu film to undergo such an advanced upgrade. Fans across generations are gearing up to relive (or experience for the first time) the cult masterpiece that revolutionized Indian cinema.
