Nagarjuna Akkineni Announces 2 Crore Scholarship Fund For ANR College, In Memory Of His Parents

Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni made the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of ANR College, Gudivada truly special by attending the event as the chief guest, creating a memorable occasion for students, faculty, and dignitaries present at the function.

Addressing the gathering, Nagarjuna announced a significant educational initiative on behalf of the Akkineni family. He revealed that a ₹2 crore scholarship fund will be instituted at ANR College in honour of his parents, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Annapurna Akkineni. He explained that the decision was taken collectively by himself, his sister Susheela, his brother Venkat, and other members of the ANR family.

Speaking emotionally, Nagarjuna said that commemorating his parents through meaningful support for education felt like a responsibility. He added that the family would coordinate closely with the college administration to complete the necessary procedures and ensure the scholarship benefits deserving students in the most effective manner. He also recalled that his father had supported the institution decades ago with a personal contribution, and described the new fund as a continuation of that long-standing association.

The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause, as students and faculty welcomed the gesture, appreciating the Akkineni family’s enduring commitment to education, legacy, and social responsibility.
