‘David Reddy’ will be like a full meals feast for my fans: Rocking Star Manchu Manoj at the Glimpse Launch

Rocking Star Manchu Manoj has officially stepped into his next ambitious project titled David Reddy, a high-scale period action drama that promises to deliver an intense cinematic experience. The film is produced by Venkat Reddy and Bharat Motukuri under the banners Velvet Soul Motion Pictures and True Radix, and is directed by Hanuma Reddy Yakkanti. Mounted as a pan-India production, the film is being made in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, with Maria Ryaboshapka playing the female lead. Set against a British-era backdrop, the film revolves around a powerful fictional character inspired by real historical incidents
The glimpse launch event, held grandly in Hyderabad, saw the presence of the core team, who shared insights into the scale, vision, and intensity of the project.
Speaking at the event, action choreographer Supreme Sundar stated that Manchu Manoj has always been admired for his action-oriented roles and expressed confidence that David Reddy would elevate him further as a formidable action star.
Producer Venkat Reddy revealed that the glimpse showcased barely a fraction of what the film truly offers. He emphasized that Manoj will be seen in a never-before avatar and thanked the actor for trusting a relatively new team. He also praised director Hanuma Reddy’s commitment and highlighted the strength of the technical crew, including Ravi Basrur and Supreme Sundar, stating that their collaboration would take the film to a new level.
Co-producer Bharat Motukuri described David Reddy as a story that could only be carried by Manchu Manoj. He explained that the narrative explores the rage born from prolonged oppression and how it transforms into rebellion against British rule. He expressed confidence that the film would strongly resonate with audiences.
Music director Ravi Basrur shared that the love he received from audiences after KGF and Salaar motivates him further. He assured that David Reddy would be musically powerful and stated that the glimpse offered only a small preview of what lies ahead.
Director Hanuma Reddy Yakkanti spoke about the journey of the film, stating that after completing the script, he was in search of a powerful performer and immediately felt Manoj was the right choice. After watching Bhairavam, he reached out with a concept poster, and Manoj instantly connected with the story. He added that several top technicians agreed to be part of the project purely based on the strength of the narrative. Calling David Reddy a true pan-India film, he described the character as a fictional creation rooted in real-life historical circumstances and urged audiences to experience the rest on the big screen.
Addressing the gathering, Manchu Manoj expressed heartfelt gratitude to his fans, stating that their unwavering support has always motivated him to return as a lead actor. He shared that David Reddy came to him at a crucial moment when he was carefully choosing his comeback film. The actor revealed that the story immediately resonated with him and praised director Hanuma Reddy for crafting a role that aligns perfectly with both his strengths and audience expectations.
Manoj elaborated that the film is set between 1897 and 1922 and presents a raw, uncompromising protagonist who believes that freedom is not to be pleaded for but seized through resistance. He described David Reddy as a character who stands against both the British and those Indians who collaborated with them. His weapons — a motorcycle named “War Dog” and a stick referred to as “Death Note” — symbolize his aggressive ideology.
Addressing speculation about cameo appearances by Ram Charan and Simbu, Manoj clarified that while the story allows space for guest roles, no actor has been officially approached yet.
Concluding his speech, Manoj said that the love he received while playing supporting and antagonist roles has been overwhelming, and David Reddy will serve as a “full meals feast” for his fans. He described the film as a powerful depiction of how a lone warrior rises against brutal, untold atrocities of history.
