Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is all set to return to the big screen with the much-anticipated sports comedy-drama Sitaare Zameen Par, scheduled for release on June 20. Following this release, the actor will shift his focus to an ambitious project — a biopic on Indian cinema legend Dadasaheb Phalke, which will be helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The film is expected to begin production later this year.

Interestingly, fresh reports suggest that Aamir and Hirani may reunite for another massive project — a sequel to their 2014 blockbuster PK. The original sci-fi comedy was not only a critical darling but also a box office phenomenon, winning hearts despite some controversies. The film concluded with a surprise appearance by Ranbir Kapoor, leaving fans wondering about a continuation.

According to a source cited in Pinkvilla, the idea of PK 2 is very much alive. “Aamir, Rajkumar Hirani, and writer Abhijat Joshi have a story that excites them. While the project will only be revisited after the Phalke biopic, there is genuine interest in exploring a sequel. The concept naturally builds on the first film’s world, with both Aamir and Ranbir playing aliens from another planet.”

While the sequel isn’t officially greenlit yet, insiders say that Ranbir Kapoor is aware of the concept and is enthusiastic about returning as an alien, continuing the quirky, thought-provoking narrative that PK is known for.
