David Warner to Debut in Telugu Cinema with Robinhood

Former Australian cricketer David Warner is all set to make his acting debut with a special cameo in the Telugu film Robinhood, starring Nithiin and Sreeleela. Directed by Venky Kudumula, the film’s producer, Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers, confirmed Warner’s appearance during the pre-release event of GV Prakash’s upcoming movie Kingston in Hyderabad.
At the event, which saw the presence of actor Nithiin and director Venky Kudumula, Ravi Shankar was asked about updates on Robinhood. He cleared the air regarding the ongoing speculations, saying, “David Warner has made a cameo in the film, and it’ll be an exciting moment for fans,” thus officially confirming the much-rumored appearance.
Warner, who is hugely popular in the Telugu-speaking states due to his long association with SunRisers Hyderabad, has previously expressed his love for Telugu cinema. His viral Instagram reels, where he danced to songs from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Pushpa, added to his fanbase in the region. The cricketer reportedly shot his cameo in September 2024 during the film’s Australia schedule, sparking rumors when he began following Nithiin and Venky Kudumula on social media.
GV Prakash Kumar’s Kingston, which tells the story of a fisherman confronting supernatural forces that stop villagers from sailing into the sea, will be released on March 7.
Meanwhile, Robinhood, initially set for release on December 25, 2024, has been delayed and is now scheduled for a theatrical release on March 28, 2025. The film features Sreeleela as the female lead and boasts a musical score by GV Prakash Kumar. In addition to Robinhood, Nithiin is also busy with the shoot of Thammudu, directed by Venu Sriram.
