Dulquer Salmaan’s “Hey Pasi Manase” – A Nostalgic Prelude to Kaantha

Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming period drama Kaantha has been stirring excitement ever since its teaser hinted at a captivating storyline set against the vibrant 1950s backdrop. The film, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, pairs Dulquer with Bhagyashri Borse in her lead role debut, with veteran actor Samuthirakani in a pivotal part.
Backed by Spirit Media Pvt. Ltd. and Wayfarer Films Pvt. Ltd., the project is being produced on an ambitious scale by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese.
The first song from the film, Hey Pasi Manase, has now been unveiled — an enchanting melody drenched in vintage charm. Music director Jhanu Chanthar recreates the magic of a bygone era through rich orchestration and warm analog tones, while Krishna Kanth’s poetic lyrics capture the tender innocence of early love. The song’s soul is further elevated by the heartfelt voices of Pradeep Kumar and Priyanka NK.
Visually, the track is a feast for lovers of retro cinema, with carefully crafted sets, period costumes, and intimate moments between Dulquer and Bhagyashri that feel both authentic and timeless.
The technical crew boasts Dani Sanchez Lopez as cinematographer, Tha. Ramalingam as art director, and Lewellyn Anthony Gonsalves handling the edit. Additional screenplay contributions come from Thamizh Prabha.
Kaantha is set for a grand theatrical release on September 12.
