ED Attaches Properties of Filmmaker S Shankar in Plagiarism Case Related to “Enthiran”

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached properties belonging to Tamil filmmaker S Shankar, valued at 10.11 crore Rupee. This action is in connection with a money laundering case stemming from allegations of plagiarism related to his blockbuster movie “Enthiran” (Robot).

The ED’s investigation was initiated based on a complaint claiming that the storyline of “Enthiran” bore a striking resemblance to a story titled “Jiguba” written by Aarur Tamilnadan. The ED has seized three immovable properties under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to the ED, Shankar received 11.5 crore Rupee for his work on “Enthiran.” An independent report identified significant similarities between “Enthiran” and “Jiguba,” strengthening the claims of plagiarism. The ED’s actions are a step forward in the investigation into the financial aspects related to the alleged plagiarism.
