Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is set to make his acting debut in a promotional advertisement for Netflix’s upcoming web series, “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.” The series, created by Neeraj Pandey, is a sequel to “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter” and is scheduled to premiere on March 20, 2025.
Ganguly, affectionately known as ‘Dada,’ has previously appeared on television in various commercials and as the host of the Bengali quiz show “Dadagiri Unlimited.” However, this marks his first foray into acting for a web series promotion. Reports indicate that he portrays a police officer in the promotional content for “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter,” with filming taking place at Binodini Studio in Kolkata.
At a recent trailer launch event in Kolkata, when questioned about Ganguly’s involvement, creator Neeraj Pandey responded cryptically, “As far as Sourav is concerned… keep looking.”
“Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” is set in the early 2000s and follows IPS officer Arjun Maitra as he navigates the intricate power dynamics between politicians and gangsters in Kolkata. The series delves into the challenges faced by law enforcement amid political pressures and criminal underworld rivalries.
The series boasts a stellar cast, including Bengali film icons Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jeet, and Parambrata Chatterjee, alongside Chitrangada Singh, Ritwik Bhowmik, Saswata Chatterjee, and Mahaakshay Chakraborty. Ganguly’s participation in the promotional campaign has heightened anticipation for the series, with fans eager to see his portrayal of a law enforcement officer.
“Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” will be available for streaming on Netflix starting March 20, 2025.
