Gripping Teaser of Dulquer Salmaan’s Period Thriller ‘Kaantha’ Unveiled – Releasing in Theatres on September 12

The much-awaited period drama Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan, has been generating strong buzz with its intriguing first-look posters. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, this Tamil-Telugu bilingual film features Samuthirakani in a powerful supporting role, with Bhagyashree Borse cast opposite Dulquer as the female lead.

The project is a high-profile collaboration between Spirit Media Pvt. Ltd. and Wayfarer Films Pvt. Ltd., produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prasath Potluri, and Jom Varghese. On the occasion of Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday, the makers unveiled the much-anticipated teaser, which has further heightened excitement for the film.

A Tale of Friendship, Fame & Fallout

Kaantha explores the emotional and psychological journey of two individuals — Chandran, a versatile actor, and Ayya, a veteran writer-director. The story begins with the deep bond they share in their early careers, which gradually deteriorates as fame and recognition drive a wedge between them.

Ayya writes his first horror film, centered around a strong female protagonist, Shantha. However, as Chandran rises to stardom, he seizes control of the project, reshaping the script to suit his heroic image and even renaming the film to “Kaantha.”

Set in 1950s Madras – A Visually Rich Thriller

Set against the backdrop of 1950s Madras, Kaantha promises to be a visually stunning thriller with strong emotional depth. The film’s set design, costumes, and overall aesthetic authentically recreate the period atmosphere.

Director Selvamani Selvaraj is praised for crafting a powerful narrative with a well-layered screenplay. Dulquer Salmaan impresses with his commanding screen presence, while Samuthirakani fits perfectly into the role of a veteran filmmaker. Bhagyashree Borse adds her own charm and leaves a mark.

Technical Brilliance Elevates the Film

  • Cinematography by Dani Sanchez Lopez is a highlight, beautifully capturing the vintage vibe of the 1950s.
  • Art direction by Tha. Ramalingam enhances the film’s visual grandeur.
  • Music by Jaanu Chander elevates the emotional intensity of the narrative.
  • Additional screenplay is contributed by Tamil Prabha, while Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalves ensures tight, engaging editing.

Teaser Creates Huge Buzz Ahead of Release

The teaser has taken social media by storm, fueling high expectations for the film’s theatrical release. With its period setting, emotional core, and gripping drama, Kaantha is shaping up to be a must-watch cinematic experience when it hits theatres on September 12.
