How NTR & MGR Inspired the Creation of Pawan Kalyan’s Character in Hari Hara Veera Mallu

As the highly anticipated Hari Hara Veera Mallu gears up for its grand theatrical release on July 24, the excitement is reaching its peak. Amidst the buzz, director Jyothi Krisna has offered a fascinating insight into the creative process behind the film — revealing that the legendary screen icons NTR and MGR served as key inspirations while designing Pawan Kalyan’s heroic role.
Speaking about the vision behind the character, Jyothi Krisna said, “When I observed Pawan Kalyan closely — his charisma, commitment to people, and his larger-than-life persona — it reminded me of the same aura that NTR garu and MGR sir had in their times. That’s when I knew I wanted to build a character that goes beyond being just a hero — someone who represents dharma, strength, and the voice of the people.”

MGR’s Legacy of Meaningful Cinema
The director pointed out that MGR continued acting in socially impactful films even after becoming Chief Minister. “His films carried values, messages, and moral strength — something I deeply admired,” he shared.
This admiration translated into a powerful number in Hari Hara Veera Mallu titled ‘Maata Vinali’, which Jyothi Krisna says is rooted in positivity and righteousness. “It’s not just a song — it’s a reflection of Pawan Kalyan’s ideology. It encourages people to listen to their conscience and walk the path of truth,” he added, noting the song has already struck an emotional chord with early listeners.
NTR’s Mythological Influence
Equally influential was NTR’s legendary portrayal of mythological characters, particularly Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. His symbolic use of the bow and arrow became iconic, representing justice and moral clarity.
Taking a cue from this, Pawan Kalyan’s character in Hari Hara Veera Mallu is also seen wielding a bow and arrow — not just as a weapon, but as a symbol of resistance and righteousness. “This film is set in a historical period, and I wanted to channel that same mythical strength. The visuals, weapons, and action all reflect that spiritual and emotional power,” the director explained.
Crafting a Leader, Not Just a Hero
Jyothi Krisna concluded by sharing that while writing the script, he saw Pawan Kalyan through the eyes of the people — as a leader first, and then a star. “Every scene was written with purpose. I wanted the narrative to feel impactful, and every moment to elevate the story, because audiences aren’t just watching a character — they’re watching a symbol of hope, justice, and inspiration.”
With a blend of historical grandeur and modern relevance, Hari Hara Veera Mallu is shaping up to be much more than a film — it’s a tribute to the timeless influence of cinema’s greatest legends, reimagined through Pawan Kalyan’s powerful presence.
