L2E: Empuraan Set to Make History with Malayalam Cinema’s First IMAX® Trailer Launch
The excitement surrounding L2E: Empuraan, the much-awaited sequel to Lucifer, is reaching new heights as the film gears up for its grand release on March 27, 2025. Adding to the anticipation, the makers have announced a groundbreaking moment in Malayalam cinema—the first-ever IMAX® trailer launch.
The theatrical trailer of L2E: Empuraan will be released online on March 20, 2025, at 1:08 PM IST, while an exclusive offline launch event is set to take place at INOX Megaplex in InOrbit Mall, Malad, Mumbai. What makes this even more special is that members of the media will witness the trailer in the immersive IMAX® format, a first for any Malayalam film.
Not only does L2E: Empuraan mark this milestone, but it also becomes the first-ever Malayalam film to secure an IMAX® release, ensuring a visually spectacular experience for audiences worldwide. Filmed using an anamorphic format with a 1:2.8 aspect ratio, the IMAX® presentation will enhance the film’s grandeur, making it a must-watch on the big screen.
As the second installment in the Lucifer trilogy, L2E: Empuraan is a political action-thriller featuring an ensemble cast, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh, Andrea Tivadar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Manju Warrier. The film also marks the Indian cinema debut of Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn, further raising expectations.
Jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies, this high-profile project is written by Murali Gopy. The film will release simultaneously in Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil on March 27, with Dil Raju’s SVC Cinemas handling distribution in Telugu states, Anil Thadani’s AA Films in North India, and Hombale Films overseeing the Karnataka release. Sree Gokulam Movies will manage the Tamil Nadu distribution.
