Mohanlal to Receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023 at National Film Awards Ceremony

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has officially announced that legendary actor Mohanlal will be conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023, India’s highest honour in cinema. The award will be formally presented on September 23, 2025, during the 71st National Film Awards ceremony.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mohanlal through a heartfelt post on X, calling him a symbol of excellence and versatility:

“Shri Mohanlal ji epitomises brilliance across cinema and theatre. With a rich body of work spanning decades, he has been a leading light of Malayalam cinema, while also leaving his mark in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films. Union I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also hailed the actor:

The Ministry further said:

“On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is proud to announce that Shri Mohanlal will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. His remarkable cinematic journey continues to inspire generations.”
