Nag Ashwin Shares Update on Kalki 2

The epic sci-fi mythological thriller Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, hit theatres in June 2024 and went on to collect an astonishing Rs 1,050 crore worldwide. Directed by visionary filmmaker Nag Ashwin, the film became one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema.
Naturally, all eyes are now on the sequel, Kalki 2. While it was earlier announced that the project would go on floors towards the end of 2025, Nag Ashwin recently shared an update during a podcast appearance.
The director revealed that he is hoping to begin shooting by late 2025 but admitted several challenges remain. “The actors have to align their schedules. Some of the pre-visualized and action sequences are much bigger this time, so it will take more time. I don’t have an exact timeline since everyone is busy,” Ashwin said.
He further explained that while the filming itself might take a while, post-production will be even lengthier. “Hopefully in another 2 or 3 years, that’s what I think,” he added, suggesting that fans may need to wait longer before the grand spectacle unfolds on the big screen.
Alongside Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, Kalki 2898 AD also starred legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles. The music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, while the film was produced by Ashwini Dutt under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies banner.
With expectations already sky-high, Kalki 2 is being touted as one of the most awaited Indian sequels, promising to take the cinematic universe to even greater heights.
