The past decade has been an incredible journey of growth and success for me as an actor. From the global phenomenon of Baahubali to the recent triumph of Pushpa 2 and now the Sankranti blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, it’s a matter of immense pride to witness Telugu cinema making waves worldwide. I’m incredibly fortunate to be a part of this vibrant industry, portraying diverse characters and entertaining audiences across various platforms.”
He further elaborated on his recent successes: “This year has been particularly special with films like Game Changer, Daaku Maharaaj, and Sankranthiki Vasthunnam all crossing the coveted 100 crore mark at the box office. The success of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is especially close to my heart. Working with my favorite director, Anil Ravipudi, and the esteemed producer Dil Raju garu, has been an absolute joy. I’m thrilled that the film is on track to surpass 300 crores. The Chief Minister character I portrayed has resonated with audiences, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to start the year with such a resounding success.”
A Busy Year Filled with Diverse Roles
Naresh shared his excitement for his upcoming projects: “2025 is shaping up to be the busiest year of my career. I have nine films in various stages of production, each offering unique and challenging roles. I’m even playing lead roles in two of them. Last year’s Veeranjaneyulu Viharayatra opened up new avenues for me on OTT platforms, and I’m eager to explore more diverse characters and narratives.”
He highlighted some of his upcoming films: “I’m currently working on a hilarious film with Sharwanand, directed by Ram Abbaraju. I’m also part of exciting projects like Sundarakanda with Nara Rohith, Indraganti garu’s Saranga Pani Jathakam, and a film with Ravi Teja garu. I’m also playing the lead role in Beauty, produced by Maruthi Writings. It’s incredibly gratifying to see both senior and young directors crafting such diverse and engaging roles for me.”
Giving Back to the Industry and Honoring Legends
Naresh reflected on his journey and expressed his gratitude: “I’m incredibly grateful to have completed 52 successful years in the film industry. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without my dedication, honesty, discipline, and the unwavering support of the audience, producers, writers, and directors. I’m deeply indebted to everyone who has contributed to my success.”
He also shared his vision for giving back to the industry: “Society has given me so much, and it’s time to give back. This year, I’ve embarked on two significant initiatives: a film museum and library, and a creative space for young artists. We’ve named it after Smt. Ghattamaneni Indira Devi garu and have also established the Vijaya Krishna Mandir within the space. My wife, Pavitra, and I are passionate about this project, which we see as a lifelong mission. We’ll be sharing more details soon.”
Naresh also spoke about his initiatives to honor his mentors and legendary figures in the industry: “Jandhyala garu, Krishna garu, and Vijaya Nirmala garu have been my guiding lights. Without Jandhyala garu, I wouldn’t be the actor I am today. To honor his legacy, we’ve established a dubbing and post-production theater named after him. We’ve also created a book on his life and work, which will be launched on my mother’s birthday. This year, we’ll also be presenting the prestigious Vijaya Krishna Award.”
A Life Dedicated to Cinema
Naresh concluded by expressing his unwavering passion for cinema: “Cinema is my lifeblood; it’s where I find my energy and purpose. I aspire to be on set until my last breath. I dream of making a biopic on my mother, Vijaya Nirmala garu, and exploring sequels to some of my most memorable films.”
