Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan Face Heat Over Collaboration with Jani Master Amid POCSO Case

Actor Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan are currently under fire from netizens following their decision to work with choreographer Jani Master, who is facing serious legal allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The controversy ignited after Jani Master shared behind-the-scenes moments with Vignesh Shivan on social media from the sets of their upcoming film Love Insurance Kompany. The post included candid images and a heartfelt note expressing his gratitude towards the director, further fueling public outrage.

Things escalated when Vignesh Shivan reposted Jani’s post on his own account, which many online users interpreted as open support. Critics were quick to slam the couple for what they saw as a lack of sensitivity, particularly considering the gravity of the allegations.

Nayanthara, who is co-producing the film, also faced significant backlash. While she has not commented on the issue, her involvement in the project has disappointed several of her fans, many of whom expected more accountability from her, especially in her position of influence.

Social media platforms have since been flooded with criticism. Comments range from disappointment to outright anger. One user posted, “Disgusting to see people with such influence backing someone with a POCSO case.” Another added, “Not the first time Vignesh Shivan is supporting problematic people. Is this the company they want to keep?”

The backlash also referenced past controversies involving the filmmaker. Critics pointed out that this isn’t an isolated case, with some accusing him of maintaining associations with individuals accused of misconduct.

For context, in late 2024, Jani Master publicly acknowledged involvement in a case related to sexual misconduct involving a minor, which led to his arrest under the POCSO Act. Though he was later granted conditional bail, his National Film Award for Best Choreography—earned for the track “Megam Karukkatha” from Thiruchitrambalam—was suspended as a result of the ongoing case.

Despite the public uproar, the team behind Love Insurance Kompany has not issued any official clarification or response.

As conversations around accountability in the entertainment industry continue to gain momentum, this incident has once again raised pressing questions about ethical choices, the influence of public figures, and the industry’s responsibility toward survivors and justice.
