“Thama: Ayushmann Khurrana & Rashmika Mandanna’s Vampire Comedy Speeds Up Production for Diwali 2025 Release”

The much-anticipated vampire comedy, Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is back on track after a brief hiatus. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film had to temporarily pause its Delhi schedule due to Rashmika’s leg injury. However, the team has now restructured their shooting plan to ensure they meet their Diwali 2025 release deadline.

Revamped Shooting Schedule: Fast-Tracking the Production

Initially, the film was set for an uninterrupted shoot in January, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays the antagonist, joining in February for sequences in Ooty. However, with the unexpected break, the schedule has been tweaked. The cast, including Paresh Rawal, is currently filming at real locations in Mumbai.

To compensate for the lost time, key Delhi sequences—originally planned to be shot on location—will now be filmed at a meticulously designed set in Film City starting March 27. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will join the team there, bringing his signature intensity to the much-awaited horror-comedy.

A Love Story Across Time and Legends

Unlike traditional vampire flicks, Thama weaves elements of romance, history, and supernatural thrills. The story follows Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, a historian, who uncovers an ancient love story rooted in the legendary Vijayanagar empire. Through flashbacks, the narrative seamlessly connects past and present, blending myth, mystery, and bloodthirsty action into a unique cinematic experience.

The Road to Diwali 2025

With the Mumbai schedule wrapping up by late April, the team will head to the Nilgiri forests in May, filming the final portions before concluding production. Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Thama is set to be a major addition to their horror-comedy universe, following hits like Stree and Bhediya.

Adding to the excitement, Thama is set for a Diwali 2025 release, where it will go head-to-head with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela’s upcoming Anurag Basu directorial. With two big films clashing at the box office, audiences can expect a festive season packed with entertainment.
